Most of the time when typing on a computer, your cursor moves down the screen as you write. When you hit the bottom of the document window, whatever app you’re using scrolls the screen up a little bit so you’re not stuck at the bottom of the window.
Typewriter Scrolling changes that. Instead of the cursor moving down one row at a time, the cursor stays in the same row, toward the middle of the window. Just like writing on a typewriter, your eyes stay focused on the current line, and everything you’ve already typed moves up and out of view.
To try it out, in the go to View > Typewriter Scrolling in the menu bar.
You may not leave it on all the time, but it’s a great tool for Write Sprints or any time you want to keep up your forward momentum.
